Small Countries, Big Traditions (8 Days)

Day 1: Arrival Tivat/Podgorica - Kolasin

Flight to Tivat/Podgorcia. Afterwards drive to Moraca-Canyon (photostop) and further to our hotel in Kolasin.

Day 2: Kolasin - Peja - Pristina - Skopje

We leave Montenegro and reach Kosovo. We visit the Patriarchate Church in Pecs. Afterwards a sightseeing tour in Pristina, the capital of Kosovo. We cross the border to Macedonia and reach the capital Skopje. In the evening we will have a traditional dinner with music in a restaurant in Skopje.

Day 3: Skopje - Mavrovo - Ohrid

Today we will explore the Macedonian capital. Among other things, we see the old town with the fortress Kale, the church of St. Spas and the big bazaar, as well as the new part of the town with the Alexander Fountain and the Mother Theresa House. Then drive via Tetovo to the Mavrovo National Park. Unique nature and the highest mountains of Macedonia await us. We visit the monastery of Sv. Jovan Bigorski before arriving at our hotel in Ohrid in the evening.

Day 4: Ohrid

We drive to the centre of the UNESCO city and get our first impressions on a boat trip along the promenade to the church of Kaneo, probably the most famous photo point in Macedonia. From here we will explore the city on foot and get to know some of the 365 churches, as well as the fortress of King Samuel. Afterwards a little leisure time to stroll around, then return to our hotel.

Day 5: Ohrid - Berat - Durres

After breakfast we drive from Ohrid to the Albanian border. We come to the UNESCO city Berat, also called city of 1000 windows. With our guide we explore the architectural highlights. Then drive to the seaport city of Durres, visiting the city with its ancient Roman theatre. Afterwards we move into our hotel in Durres.

Day 6: Durres - Tirana - Shkoder - Lake Skadar

After breakfast drive to the Albanian capital Tirana. After the city tour we head north. We continue to Shkoder, the largest city in northern Albania. Afterwards we cross the border to Montenegro, the country of the Black Mountains. We continue to the largest lake in the Balkans, Lake Skadar. Here we will take a boat trip and, in addition to the enchanting nature, we will also see the "Alkatraz" of Montenegro, an abandoned prison island. In the evening we reach our hotel in Budva.

Day 7: Budva - Cetinje - Njegusi - Kotor - Perast

In the morning we leave our hotel on the coast to enjoy the view of the mountains of Montenegro on one of the most spectacular roads in the country. Finally we reach the old capital of the country, Cetinje. Old embassy buildings still tell the story of the metropolis of a state that was once considered the poorest kingdom in Europe. A visit to the famous monastery and the National Museum are on the agenda. Here we admire one of the oldest icons of Montenegro. Then drive to the village of Njegusi. A typical lunch with the famous raw ham awaits us here. We can also look over the women's shoulders while baking bread and preparing it. In the afternoon the next highlight of the trip, after a breathtaking descent we reach Kotor. We visit the Cathedral of St. Trifun, then a boat trip in the bay of Kotor to the monastery island of Maria on the Rock and further to Perast. There the bus will take us back to Budva.

Day 8: Transfer to the airport
