Day 1: Arrival to Tashkent Arrival at the capital of Uzbekistan early in the morning. Transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon after a short rest we start our sightseeing tour in Tashkent that is located in the north of the Great Silk Road. We visit the Tashkent's center, Amir Temur Square, Independence Square, the historical heart of Tashkent. Also we will visit the Khast-Imom Complex, the official religious center of Uzbekistan and Chor-Su bazaar, the multicolored world itself; there you can purchase what your heart desires. From there we go to the Art and Craft museum. Day 2: Tashkent-Termez After checking-out from the hotel we drive to the airport for our flight to Termez. Termez is a small town in the South of Uzbekistan at the River Amudarja that separates Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. After arrival there we drive to our hotel. After checking-in we start our sightseeing tour in Termez. This grasps the local Archaeological Museum, the archaeological sights Fayoz-Tepa and Qora-Tepa. Still in the 3-5 cc. AD they were used as a Buddhist monastery complex. Nowadays Qora-Tepa is situated very close to the border with Afganistan on uninhabited land and special permits will be arranged in Tashkent for access to the ruins of Qora-Tepa. We continue with the Islamic architectural complexes of Hakim al-Termizi. Hakim al-Termizi was a famous theologian and his mausoleum is the most important holy place in Termez. Then we visit the Sultan Saodat Ensemble, with its supreme elaborate architectural appearance. Day 3: Termez-Shakhrisabz-Samarkand In the morning after breakfast at the hotel we drive from Termez via Shakhrisabz to Samarkand. In Shakhrisabz we will have lunch and a city tour. The historical center of Shakhrisabz counts the UNESCO Cultural Heritage and includes an unusual collection of sights and old quarters, which are the witnesses of the secular development of the town. During the city tour we will see the remnants of the Ak-Saray Palace. Many legends are entwined around its construction. Further we will see the Khazrati Imom Ensamble, Gumbazi Saidon, Mausoleum of Jakhangir and Kok-Gumbaz Mosque that derives its name from the blue dome. After the sightseeing we continue driving to Samarkand. Arrival at Samarkand, checking-in at to the hotel. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. Day 4: Samarkand We will have breakfast at the hotel. In Samarkand there is really a plenty to see, because of that we need the whole day for our sightseeing tour. Samarkand derives at the same time as Babylon or Rome and looks back to a more than 2500- year-old history. We visit famous Registan Square, the Gur-Emir Mausoleum and Shakhi-Zinda Complex, the remains of the Bibi-Khanum Mosque, Shakhi-Zinda necropolis, the Gur-Emir mausoleum and the Ulugbek observatory. Subsequently the Archaeological Museum Afrosiyob with its archeological excavation in the vicinity will be visited. In the museum there are the famous and unique original Afrosiyob Frescoes from the 5 -8 cc. to see that were discovered in the 1960s. Day 5: Samarkand-Bukhara After breakfast at the hotel we continue sightseeing in Samarkand. In the afternoon we leave Samarkand and drive to Bukhara. Arrival at Bukhara and checking-in at the hotel. Day 6: Bukhara We have breakfast at the hotel and afterwards we start our city tour in Bukhara, one of the oldest cities of Uzbekistan. Once Bukhara was a center of Islamic teachings and for this reason it was famous in the whole Islamic world. With its large quantity of architectural monuments, Bukhara is a kind of „Museum City" with far back reaching history. We visit Samanids dynasty mausoleum, Arc Fortress, Chashma-Ayub, Kalon ensemble, Miri-Arab Madrasa, Magoki-Attori mosque, Ulugbek Madrasa and Abdulazizkhan Madrasa, the trade domes of Lyabi Hauz complex and Chor-Minor Madrasa. Lunch during the day. Day 7: Bukhara-border-Mary In the morning we drive to the Turkmen-Uzbek border point. Border formalities on both of the sides are done before we meet our Turkmen travel guide at Turkmen side of the border. Together with him we drive to Mary. Arrival at Mary, overnight at the hotel. Day 8: Mary-Gonur-Merv-Mary After breakfast at the hotel we leave Mary. We follow an asphalt road partly corresponding to the Old Caravan Route from Merv to Kunya Urgench. After 70 km we change for a desert track and continue driving through the desert to the archaeological camp. There we visit the excavations of the ancient capital city of Margush - Gonur. The excavations consist of the Palace of the city, Fire and Water Temples and the Royal Necropolis. We have our picnic lunch in the desert. Then we continue our way to Ancient Merv (32 km from Mary). There we visit the Sultan Sanjar Mausoleum, Large and Small Gyz Gala, Erk Kala, Gyaur Gala (medieval castles), "Kesk" fortresses and others. Return to Mary. Day 9: Mary- Ashgabat Today we will fly to Ashgabat. After checking-in at the hotel we will have a city tour there. Within the range of this tour in Ashgabat we will visit the Turkmen National Museum and the ruins of ancient Nisa, the former residence of the old Parthian kings. Then we drive to Gypjak. There we will visit the Saparmurat Khaji Mosque and the Mausoleum of the first President of Turkmenistan. Returning to Ashgabat. Day 10: Ashgabat-Dashoguz-Kunya Urgench-border point Dashoguz -Khiva Early in the morning we fly to Dashoguz. From there we drive to Kunya Urgench, not so well-known place of excavations, whose remains bear witness to the former powerful Khorezm Empire. Our visit to the historical City of Kunya Urgench includes the Mausoleums of Turebek-Khanym, Sultan Tekesh, Sultan Il Arslan, Najmad-din-Kubra and Sultan Ali. We continue our tour to the minaret of Kutlug-Timur, the tallest minaret in Central Asia, and towards Kyrk Molla. After our return to Dashoguz follows our transfer to the Turkmen-Uzbek border point. Again we have to do the border formalities on both of the sides of the border. On the Uzbek side of the border we meet our driver, who brings us to Khiva. Arrival at Khiva, checking- in at the hotel. Day 11: Khiva-Urgench-Tashkent Our sightseeing program in Khiva in the morning guides us to the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Ichan Qala" - an old fortress, where the Allakulikhan Madrassah, the Pakhlavan Mahmud mausoleum, the Islom Khoja minaret, Juma Mosque, Toshhovli and other monuments are located. In the evening - transfer to Urgench airport and flight to Tashkent. Arrival at Tashkent, checking-in at to the hotel. Day 12: Tashkent-departure You will have free time until the transfer to the airport. Departure and the end of the tour.
