This trekking tour to the high pastures (yayla) of the Taurus starts at about 1,700 m at Alacabel. While traveling this week you pass dozens of high mountain pastures and get to know Turkey in its traditional way. You stay in tents. During the day you walk with your backpack, while your main luggage is transported by vehicles. Daily tours take about 5-7 hours and often end close to a mountain lake. This journey takes you far away from tourism through the unique landscapes of Turkey with partially snow-covered peaks. You learn a lot about the life of the locals and the alpine pasture culture in the inland of the Taurus.
Day 1 till 8
Day 1:Arrival
Arrival in Antalya and transfer to the hotel. The first night is spent at the hotel.
Day 2: Karakisla - Dipsiz Lake
Early we go to the Alacabel at the altitude of 1700m, about 200 km from Antalya in the direction of Konya. The time of the journey is 1, 5 hours. The walk starts from Karakisla pasture. After passing several pastures we reach rather smooth ways to the Dipsiz Göl ("bottomless lake"), a mountain lake, where we set up our tents for the night.
Walking time is approx. from 6 to 6.5 hours. The difference in the height is + / - 300 m.
Day 3: Dipsiz Lake - Ilvat Lake
We start from Dipsiz lake, the pasture of the village Hocali. Through a beautiful canyon the trail leads up to the next pasture Göktepe. We continue from there to another mountain lake. On the way we pass Mt Gül of 2,200 m height. The route is partly rocky and steep and takes about 6 hours.
Day 4: Ilvat Lake - Akdag pasture
With this hike we reach the altitude of about 2500 m. Our tents are always built near villages. Therefore, we also have repeated visits by the inhabitants of the Alps. Of course we also visit them. Thus we get a glimpse of the mountain life in the Taurus. Today we camp near the village, from where our chef Mustafa is. Therefore, we probably have more visitors than usual that night. The hike that day lasts for about 6 hours. Even in high summer temperatures far below 10 ° C prevail here at night.
Day 5: Akdag pasture - Namaras pasture
Our way goes uphill and downhill to the altitude of about 2,200m. On this day we pass fewer pastures than usual. Instead of this, however, we walk through unusual landscapes. This walk again lasts for about 6 hours.
Day 6: Namaras pasture - Egri Lake
On this day we walk to the largest lake in the area "Egri Göl". The lake is next to the giant of the region Mt Geyik. The walk ends at the altitude of about 2,200 m at the foot of the giant. We walk for about 5 hours.
Day 7: Climbing up Mt Geyik
Mt Geyik with its 2,870 m height is one of the highest mountains in the western Taurus. In the morning we start from Söbücmen pasture to the top of the mountain. From there we enjoy the magnificent view before we go down again. This hike lasts for 6-7 hours. Then we drive to Antalya to the hotel.
Day 8: Flight home
Transfer to the airport and flight home.
