Day 1 till Day 6

The route is not difficult, and requires no special skills. However, it is good if you have reasonable experience in horseback riding, because it's more convenient to ride for several hours. Hiking and trekking experience is a plus. Grooms will assist you. On some steep climbs or descents,  horses must be kept on a leash. We travel in an uninhabited and secluded area, and we have to get along without the blessings of civilization. The rafting will last for 4-5 hours per day. The rafting trips are not difficult, Class I-II white-water rafting. Daytime temperatures range from +10 to + 30 degrees, the temperatures at night between 0 and + 10 degrees. The tour guide can change the course of the program, if the weather conditions or other problems require that.

Day 1:

Arrival at Barnaul, where we will meet the representative of Len Alp Tours at the airport. By bus we drive to the main camp "Vysotnik", that is located on a picturesque spot on the banks of the Katun River. Nearby the village of Tiungan is situated. The journey of 750 km  will approximately take 10 hours. We will be welcomed at the camp with dinner. "Len Alp Tours" is the owner of the Main Camp "Vysotnik"(850 m). Accommodation is in two-story wooden cottages with two rooms, which can be occupied with 1- 4 persons and are equipped with linens and wooden beds. The public lavatory and sauna are located in a separate building nearby. There are also a cafe, a sports ground, a parking lot and a small shop where you can rent hiking equipment. Clothes and items that you don't need for the trek can be left in a cloakroom.

Day 2:

Transfer to the village Amur, the starting point for rafting. We start rafting down the river Koksa. The flow is not strong, so we can enjoy the scenery. We pitch up the camp at a place that is very well suited for fishing. The crystal clear water in the Altai Mountains is the ideal habitat for a variety of fish species. These include trouts, graylings, Taimen (Siberian salmon), Elets, perches and many more.
20-25 km, 4-5 hours.

Day 3:

During today's rafting tour, we pass the village Tyuguryuk. The flow is faster today, so after about 2 hours we reach the rapids Gromotukhinsky (2. class). After another 40-50 minutes of rafting we near the village of Ust-Koksa where Koksa river flows into the Katun River. We spend the night on Katun island.
30 Km, 4-5 hours

Day 4:

At the beginning of Uymonskaya valley the Katun River forks into many branches, which with their width of 1 km form a giant maze. Near the village of Multa we pitch up our camp. But we also have enough time for a trip to Nicholas Roerich Museum, who was a renowned painter and writer.
30 km, rafting 4-5 hours

Day 5:

Rafting from Multa to Tiungur. The flow on this passage is pretty fast and we will overcome several small rapids on this tour. Dinner and overnight stay we will have in the "Vysotnik" main camp.
30 Km, 4-5 hours.

Day 6:

Today we start our trek on horseback. By Tiungur (850 m) over the Kuzuyak Pass (1,513 m) our way leads to the Ak-kem river (1.00 m) towards the Oroktoy Bach (1,100 m). The ascent to Kuzuyak Pass has no technical difficulties, but it is still a test for the endurance of our horses and for us as well. Overnight at the outlet of Oroktoy Creek.
19 Km, 5-6 hours.

Day 7 till Day 12

Day 7:

Today from Oroktoy Creek we ride to Tukhman River at 2,000 meters altitude. On this tour we can observe the changes in the landscape and the panorama. From the deep taiga - the Siberian forest, up to the high altitude flourishing alpine meadows leads our way. We are staying overnight at a picturesque place where we enjoy spectacular views of the mountain Belukha (4506 m) - the highest mountain of Siberia and of course also on other surrounding peaks.
14 Km, 6-7 hours.

Day 8:

Today from the Tukhman river we pass Kulduairy lake at the altitudeof 2 000 m down to the Tekeliu river (1800 m). Today we have to travel about 30 km. At the beginning of the path we are moving at the same height level  to graceful Kulduairy lake. During the way perhaps we will be lucky to see an Altai Maral (a subspecies of elk out of the deer family) or to catch a sight of marmots. After that we pass a plateau with some crazy shaped rocks and stones, a short but steep descent leads us down to the shore of the Tekeliu river, where we will camp today.
30 km, 7-8 hours

Day 9:

From our camp on the Tekeliu river today we ride to the "Ak-kem" Main Camp on 1,950 m altitude. After breakfast we cross the Tekeliu river and climb up on Sarybel Pass. After we crossed the long ridge, and had overcome the steep descent, we come to Yarlu Valley. Then we cross the Ak-kem river, and after one and a half hours we reach our fixed altitude camp. In the camp we will find a cafeteria, a sauna and a traditional Altaic Building - Ail (in a kind of wooden yurt).
15 Km, 6-7 hours.

Day 10:

Today we move from the main camp, "Ak-kem" up to the Karatiurek Pass in 3060 m altitude. We are leaving our high camp and begin the second part of our trekking. We climb up the Karatiurek Pass and this is really a serious test of endurance for us and our horses. The descent from the pass is steep and leads through a boulder field.
18 Km, 5-6 hours.

Day 11:

Today our gradual descent to the Kucherla river takes place. We make a stop to view ancient petro glyphs on the rocks. Petro glyphs are carved in stone, pictorial representations of prehistoric times. Then we return to the main camp "Vysotnik".
